Guidelines for Inviting, Scheduling and Hosting a Distinguished Lecturer Presentation
The EMCS Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) provides eminent speakers (and provides support for their travel costs) on various topics of high interest and emerging aspects of electromagnetic compatibility for presentations at EMC Society chapter meetings and similar events. DLP program is designed to advance the mission and goals of EMCS while helping to increase the chapter vitality and providing networking opportunities among local members. Speaking engagement arrangements are made by the local chapters or benefiting organizations by directly contacting any of the Distinguished Lecturers or the DL chair. While presentations to groups outside of the EMC Society Chapters and the IEEE are also encouraged to engage the DL Speakers the program support is not intended for national or international EMC symposiums, regional conventions, local colloquiums, trade shows, or commercial seminars. Hosts are encouraged to collaborate with multiple other neighboring chapters so that benefits of DL visit are maximized and cost per attendee is minimized and follow the below indicated guidelines.
- Review the distinguished lecturer list and their topics, then directly contact the DL to arrange for an in-person-visit or virtual-talk with options for a particular
- Date, time, and location of the engagement
- Topic that is of interest to your audience
- Discuss what logistical support if any can be provided by your chapter/benefiting organization (e.g., ground transportation, meals, local meeting arrangements or any other shared expenses, etc.) complementing the EMCS support.
- Once confirmed with DL, prepare an announcement containing relevant details, including an abstract of the talk and lecturer’s bio. Distribute it to your membership via VTools, emails, newsletter and social media, well in advance of the event date. Follow it up with reminders as the event date gets closer.
- Arrange the logistics for hosting the talk. Once the event is over, submit a brief report on the event via the DL website link.
