
Women in Engineering (WIE)

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network that advances women in technology. The IEEE WIE has dedicated its effort to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls worldwide to follow their academic interests to a career in engineering. The mission of IEEE WIE is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. IEEE WIE envisions a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity.
IEEE WIE Strives To:
- Provide assistance with the formation of new IEEE WIE Affinity Groups and support ongoing activities.
- Recognize the outstanding achievements of women in electrical and electronics engineering through IEEE Awards nominations.
- Organize workshops at major technical conferences to enhance networking and to promote membership in IEEE WIE.
- Advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession.
- Promote member grade advancement for women to the IEEE membership grades of Senior Member and Fellow.
- Facilitate the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into, and retention of, women in engineering programs.
- Administer the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior high and high schools.

To connect, support, and inspire women and girls worldwide, and facilitate their recruitment and retention in STEM fields, fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

Women in EMC+SIPI during DesignCon 2025

The IEEE EMC Society Women in Engineering Session and Networking Reception at DesignCon 2025 was well attended! More than 60 people enjoyed three great speakers from the Silicon Valley, including Praveena AnandKumar, Managing Director, CETECOM; Biyao Zhao, Senior SIPI Engineer, Nvidia; and Beth Kochuparambil, Principal Engineer, Cisco Common Hardware Group. The session concluded with an educational presentation “Does Good EMC Design Imply Good Signal/Power Integrity? Or is it Vice Versa?” by Jim Drewniak, Professor Emeritus, Missouri University of Science and Technology.

The EMC Europe WIE event was an unforgettable evening that began with a certified guide showing attendees the historic and charming city of Bruges. The walking tour was followed by a delicious dinner in a picturesque setting. This inspiring social event attracted female participants of all professional backgrounds and experience.
