Scholarship Opportunities
The IEEE EMC Society has the following scholarship and grant opportunities.
EMC+SIPI Student EMC Hardware Competition
The IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society invites student teams to participate in the 2026 Student EMC Hardware Design Competition, focused on developing practical skills in EMC measurement, analysis, and problem solving. This year’s challenge asks students to characterize the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance of a working electronic device — an Arduino-based system and to communicate results clearly and creatively.
The competition emphasizes real-world engineering practice: designing test setups, collecting meaningful data, interpreting results, and proposing or demonstrating mitigation techniques.
IEEE James C. Klouda Memorial Scholarship Award
The IEEE James C. Klouda Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of James C. Klouda and his professional career in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. The Scholarship Fund awards, on an annual basis, a scholarship to a qualified undergraduate student or graduate student who seeks an electrical engineering degree with emphasis in the field of electromagnetic compatibility or a related discipline, from an accredited US university or college.
Prize: $1000 Scholarship & EMCS student membership for one year
IEEE EMC Society-Chicago Chapter Scholarship
The Chicago Chapter of the IEEE EMC Society has established a college scholarship program with scholarships to be awarded to an undergraduate or a graduate college student.
The John Howard Memorial EMC Education Grant
The John Howard Memorial EMC Education Grant supports non-profit activities that improve educational opportunities in EMC.
