SUMMARY:EMC & Compliance International 2026
DESCRIPTION:This year\, EMC & CI 2026 will bring together a very diverse community of engineers\, industry professionals and researchers to explore the latest advances and challenges in electromagnetic compatibility and interference. It will blend in the same event and location both a practical training course and a technical and scientific conference. Over the three days\, participants will have the opportunity to upscale in a research and development environment\, engage in thought-provoking discussions\, share pioneering research\, and exchange insights on emerging technologies. The technical and scientific program features papers and presentations on current trends\, and in-depth technical tutorials and workshops designed to foster dialogue and collaboration across disciplines. \n\nMore than simply combining training course and conference\, EMC & CI 2026 aims to be a meeting of minds\, a space for innovation\, cooperation\, and inspiration. It is also a chance to renew professional friendships\, establish new connections\, and enjoy the intellectual and cultural atmosphere that Oxford offers in abundance.

SUMMARY:Simulation of Shielding Effectiveness in the Virtual Reverberation Chamber
DESCRIPTION:Speaker:\nDr. Andreas Barchanski\, Dassault Systemes\, SIMULIA \nChapter:\nIEEE German EMC Chapter \nAbstract:\nEarly-stage characterization of shielding effectiveness (SE) is essential for ensuring system-level\nelectromagnetic integrity. In this presentation we discuss the simulation of shielding effectiveness\n(SE) from three different perspectives:\nSolver Validation: A benchmarking of numerical simulation results against analytical equations to\nquantify accuracy and point out differences in the computation methods.\nSource Configuration and VRC Methodology: An investigation into the impact of varying source and\nprobe topologies on SE. We introduce a virtual reverberation chamber (VRC) simulation flow designed\nto reduce computational complexity by substituting a reverberation chamber by synthesized field\nsources. These sources are generated using a randomized plane wave methodology\, which allows to\nrecreate a statistically uniform field without the overhead of physical stirrer and chamber modeling.\nHigh-Voltage Application: A case study applying these simulation flows to assess the shielding\nperformance of a vehicle battery enclosure\, accounting for complex geometries.

SUMMARY:Quantum Computing for Machine Learning\, Electromagnetic Simulation and Applications to EMC Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Speakers:\nQi-jun Zhang\, Carleton University\, Chancellor’s Professor \nChapter:\nGerman Chapter \nAbstract: Quantum computing attracts increasing attention from the computation community in recent years. In certain cases\, quantum algorithms has the potential of exponential speedups over their classical counterparts\nrunning on classical computers. Quantum computing opens many new opportunities for solving large-scale problems\, and simulating complex physical systems. In this talk\, we explore quantum computing for AI/machine learning oriented computations\, and application of quantum computing in solving electromagnetic problems. Preliminary exploration of quantum computing for solving electromagnetic field simulation problems have been conducted by researchers\, using such as Transmission Line Matrix (TLM)\, Method of Moments (MoM) and Finite-Element Method (FEM) formulations. We present two types of quantum computing approaches for electromagnetic simulation\, one is a complete quantum computing approach\, utilizing Harrow–Hassidim–Lloyd (HHL) algorithm; another one is a hybrid classical/quantum computing approach utilizing Variational Quantum Algorithm (VQA). New formulations of electromagnetic equations such as FEM equations\, into quantum-compatible format will be described. Methods to prepare electromagnetic field excitation vectors into quantum states will be described. Methods to determine various hyperparameters in quantum computing based electromagnetic simulation will be described. Potential applications for EMC analysis will be explored.
