This committee's mission is to promote EMC education related activities of the IEEE EMC Society. Our vision is to provide opportunities for individuals and organizations involved with electrotechnology and products to become aware of EMC at levels consistent with their needs, and our goals are to establish an awareness of EMC fundamentals throughout industry and academia as well as to enhance EMC education through the development of improved education techniques, materials, opportunities, and communications.
All IEEE EMCS members with an interest in furthering the purposes of the Education and Student Activities Committee are welcome as full members. Non members of the IEEE and non members of the EMCS are welcome as associate members.
Applications for membership shall be made at scheduled meetings or by contacting one of the officers in writing stating the intention of the prospective member to be made a part of the committee and provide the necessary information to allow the prospective member to be placed on the committee roster.
The 2009 EMC Symposium, will be held in Austin, TX, from August 17-21. We'd like to invite any interested individuals to attend the annual meeting of the Educational and Student Activities Committee meeting to be held at the symposium. As soon as we have the exact time and location, it will be posted here for your convenience.
The ESAC encourages university and college students to take part in the Student Design Competition and make a submission to next year's Symposium. For more information about this program, check the Student Design Competition web page.
NOTE: Design kits for the Student Design Competition are now available! Completed kits must be submitted on or before April 30, 2008, to allow time for testing and judging.
The Education and Student Activities Committee is dedicated to providing those interested in EMC education the resources needed to help do the best possible job of educating and training those studying EMC as well as those working in industry. To give you a starting point, we have an Educational Resources web page containing contributed information from many sources, as well as links to information at other locations on the web. Since this is a new web page, we are actively looking for material to host from this page.
The Education and Student Activities Committee also sponsors the University Grant Program, to assist schools who need assistance in starting a new course on EMC basics. For more information on this activity, check the University Grant Page of this web site.
If you are not an IEEE member but have a comment or suggestion about EMC education or this site, we would like to hear from you. Please contact an appropriate Educational Committee member with your ideas. For more information about the general educational activities sponsored by the IEEE, check out the IEEE Education Page.
