In addition to the above, the candidate will be expected to maintain a broad knowledge of UL's offerings in order to assist customers in meeting their total product testing and certification needs, and will be required to develop and manage on-going customer relationships in partnership with the Account Executive/s so that we achieve maximum account retention and high customer satisfaction and return rate.

Position Title: ENGINEERING MANAGER (EMC LAB)

Position Purpose: We are looking for an EMC Manager based out of our Skokie, IL location, who would also manage our Ft. Collins, Colorado EMC team, and our Krakow, Poland EMC team. Each EMC site has both engineering and lab services that are specialized towards its business segment. General Dynamics Canada currently has a requirement for an intermediate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer or EMC Engineer to support product development and qualification. Reporting to the Calgary E3 Team Leader, the successful candidate will carry out varied engineering assignments using a broad range of engineering techniques in the development of new products and the improvement of existing designs. The incumbent will also be assigned to projects requiring E3 system/vehicle engineering support.

Responsiblities Include:

  • Undertake responsibility for the execution of E3 design and test activities at the product and vehicle levels;
  • Develop product/subsystem E3 design guidelines and produce E3 Control Plans;
  • Monitor design activities and provide design analysis and advice;
  • Recommend equipment wiring, grounding, filtering, and shielding techniques;
  • Participate in electrical and mechanical technical reviews including PCB reviews;
  • Identify risk areas and coordinate or conduct design proving test activities;
  • Trouble-shoot test failures and anomalies to determine the root causes of failures;
  • Interact with other engineering/technical staff to design and implement appropriate E3 fixes when needed;
  • Create formal test plans and procedures;
  • Perform qualification testing and generate test reports.

The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following:

  • A minimum of three years experience in the E3 or EMC disciplines with a total of four years relevant hardware design or test experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A high degree of initiative with work habits that require minimal management intervention to complete assigned tasks.
  • RF design and test experience would be an asset.
  • TEMPEST design or testing experience would be an asset.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent.

Position: Hardware Quality Engineer

As Hardware Development Quality Engineer in Hardware Engineering, you will play a key role in the development of SSN’s RF solutions.  Your objective will be to collaborate closely with our hardware design teams to develop, test and qualify products to be compliant with SSN and market requirements, the relevant EMC / Safety and industry specific standards and regulatory requirements.  This will involve engaging with various groups (electrical, mechanical, product management, etc.) as early as possible in the R&D cycle to ensure compliance by design rather than retrofit at a later time. Required Skills
