About Me

I am currently Professor of Electromagnetics at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK and a Guest Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, China.  My professional interests include validation of computational electromagnetics (our team developed the FSV technique), “noisy” environments, data cables and optimization.  I have authored 200+ papers and articles as well as being series editor for the IIE undergraduate textbook series and the SciTech series on EMC.  I am a past Society Distinguished Lecturer (2008/9).  My current Society work includes membership of the UKRI EMC Chapter committee, Chairing the Standards Development and Education Committee and being the Global EMC Symposium Coordinator.  I am also an Associate Editor of the Transactions on EMC.

Nominee Statement (not to exceed 150 words in length):

If elected to the Board, I have two specific areas that I would like to focus on:

  • I will seek to promote the development and dissemination of EMC standards to encourage member contribution to generate impact for the society as well as curating some of the most substantial contributions to knowledge made by its members.  A particular challenge is to increase involvement of Young Professionals.
  • I will also aim to extend the reach of the society through the development of conferences and other meetings, originating from both the society and by co-sponsored. A particular challenge to face here is developing an optimum blend of face-to-face and technology mediated meetings.

I feel that these approaches can help provide members with opportunities to gain knowledge, improve networking and contribute to the profession.  These are valuable contributors to the health of the Society and reasons for members to join and continue membership.
